This is me – Laura – bee-keeping, orchid-growing, pig and giraffe-obsessing, tap-dancing, food-loving, mess-making, moon-observing, crystal collecting, storm-adoring, lavender field hunting, day-dreaming, night-thinking, perpetual-pyjama-wearing (despite a penchant for buying absurd party dresses), waterfall and sunset chasing, makeup tutorial YouTube-aholic, manifest board creating, gypsy-hearted, spiritual psychology and self-help enthusiast, voracious reader and wannabe author.
I like long drives, looking out of windows, comfy seats, candles and drinking soft-drinks in wine glasses – yup, I’m a real party starter! Most of all, I love words- speaking them, reading them and writing them. Sadly, I’m incredibly bad at singing them… I would rather die than sing kareoke.
A born-and-raised northern girl, armed with little more than passion, a lot of chat, two broken pink iPhones (yes, really) to upload posts from, and a handful of dreams, I’m proud to host this socially conscious digital space that touches and is touched by people exactly like you!
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been insatiably curious about human behaviour, psychology, faith and our innate potential. I wanted to know, what exactly is it that makes people genuinely happy, content, balanced, successful and creatively and emotionally fulfilled? Why do some people struggle endlessly, while others find a way to thrive, often despite the most debilitating and challenging circumstances. I want to be one of those people and I know you do too.
I have a huge desire to live consciously and feed my mind and soul with inspiring words, books, images, songs, experiences and people.
I’ve been through a great many colourful experiences ; some epically dark, some psychedically bright – and some you’ll read more about on the pages of Mindfood Magpie in due course.
I’ve lived in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, by the beach and in the middle of the forest in a national park, in the Scottish highlands and in central London. I’ve learned that everywhere is absolutely beautiful, that everyone ultimately wants the same things and that wherever you go, you can’t leave ‘you’ behind so you should work on renovating ‘you’ before any house or rented room!
We are all connected and this is another way for me to connect with people like you, and of course, with my own spirituality.
Mindfood Magpie is a vessel for me to explore that spirituality and all that it encompasses whilst keeping a recorded online journal of what I find along the way.
This blog is a marriage made in heaven between my two biggest passions – spirituality and writing. I should have introduced these two to each other years ago! I hope that anyone in the Mindfood Magpie congregation today feels free to get involved by sharing thoughts, links, ideas and resources. Most of all, I hope you feel the love that I, and any of my contributors, bring to Mindfood Magpie and that you’re able to bring some, too.
I’ll also be introducing another one of my passions – beauty. Yes, I know it’s all skin-deep, but I adore makeup and skincare and if there’s an area of ‘expertise’ my friends and family talk to me about more than any other, it’s undoubtedly this one. Not a day goes by where I don’t try to “push” one of my ointments on someone. I’ve tried (and continue to try) an obscene number and variety of makeup and skincare products and I’ll be adding some of my must-have’s and new-tries to the Makeup Magpie and Skinfood Magpie areas of the blog in due course.
My ultimate wish is that you might learn something from me and I might learn something from you, so please don’t hesitate to connect with me in any way you like!

Until we ‘meet’ again, thanks so much for reading! I hope you ‘fly’ by again soon to donate or collect more sparkly nuggets of Mindfood!
